One of four prints depicting Cleveland from different perspectives, from originally drawings by Whelpley, who also engraved and published them. These form the first visual record that we have of the Cleveland landscape as a whole. Prior to the publication of Whelpley’s views, there were only maps and illustrations of individual buildings. This view features Cleveland’s busy waterfront, with many ships along the Cuyahoga River.
