Condition
LAP DESK: Minor wear and typical fine shrinkage to veneers overall. Cover exhibits shrinkage between four bands from back to front (now filled) with adjacent horizontal veneer shrinkage and very small surface losses at the rear. Interior in good, reworked condition. Includes two similar circular paneled glass pots with silvered-copper covers (these with dings at the rims). No key. SEWING BOX: The cover with a pale stain at the center of the maple band. Very slight shrinkage to veneers at one upper front corner of the lower box. The interior lined with white paper overall. The velvet lift-out section holding the instruments with wear to the loops holding these in place. The thimble dented, scissors with a loss to most of one finger ring and the two mother-of-pearl needle sizers now glued to recessed chenille-circled mirror discs. The cover with a mirror encircled with a chenille border (now loose). No key. TEA CADDY: Cover veneers exhibit surface wear, minor dings and fine shrinkage, the finial lacking at center. Scattered losses to fine stringing, primarily at lower edges of the cover. Lower edge of four panels on lower box with old pieced repairs. The later aqua moire-lined interior generally stained. No key. PERFUME CASE: Leather cover generally good with minor wear at the join in back and one side of the handle separated. Two brass studs lacking. Interior lined with vieux rose silk and velvet with the expected wear and fading. Glass bottles good overall with tiny nicks around the inner rims (one stopper lacking). Both bottles with old perfume residue. Both gilt tops and collars with oxidation, one with old perfume residue. One hinge with a tiny separation. No key. All of the above consistent with age and use.
