Description

Pair of Iron, Bronze and Wood Three-Light Torcheres, second quarter 20th century, probably French, in the Baroque style, resting on wooden bases with cylindrical standards supporting scrolled candle arms trimmed with leaf-molded bronze candlecups, bobeches and appliques, h. 71-1/2", w. 14-1/2", d. 10".

Condition

Scattered rubbing, loss to paint and inpainting throughout. Soldered repairs to the brass-colored filigree. The bases are unfinished. Both exhibit several vertical shrinkage cracks. One base is not tightly affixed to the standard. There is a nut and bolt to that end on the bottom side of the base. The other base has some thin wood shims on the bottom to level it. Losses to the shims. Electrified.
