Description
Rare Newcomb College High-Glaze Pottery Jardiniere, 1902, New Orleans, decorated by Harriet Coulter Joor (1875-1965), with cobalt tulips and leaves on an ivory ground, and potted by Joseph Fortune Meyer (1848-1931), incised "JH", "JM", and "U.", and painted with "JH" and the registration mark "V17", h. 10", dia. 10".
Condition
There are some restorations to this piece. There is a restored hairline crack beginning at the upper rim, probably with an associated chip, running into the upper cobalt decoration and across the top of two of the ivory side panels and into a third. There is an interior repair on the lower side, possibly made during manufacture.
