ANDREW JACKSON (1767-1845). Seventh President of the United States (1829–1837), a Politician and Army General who defeated the Creek Indians at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (1814), and the British at the Battle of New Orleans (1815).
November 2, 19832-Dated, Partially-Printed Document Signed, “Andrew Jackson” as President, on Vellum, Washington, D.C., measuring 15.75” x 9.5”, Very Fine. This Land Grant is registered in the Land Office at Opelousas, Louisiana for Olivia Frazier, in pursuance of an Act of Congress approved on Mar. 3, 1807 entitled "An act respecting claims to land in the territories of Orleans and Louisiana. Olivia Grant "was confirmed in her claim to a tract of land, in the County of Rapide, on the waters of the bayou Flaggon or Flaccon, containing Six hundred and thirty nine acres and ninety eight hundredths of an acre ... in the district north of Red River, in the State of Louisiana." The grant is Countersigned by Land Commissioner Elijah Hayward. Jackson's signature is of medium boldness and is massive... almost 6" across. Rare Land Grant issued to a woman.
