“Museum Quality” Original Civil War Officer’s Camp Chair
c. 1862 Civil War Period, Union Officer’s Camp Folding Carpet Bag Upholstered Chair, Very Fine.
Untouched, original condition Civil War Era Officer’s Camp Folding Carpet Bag Chair. Measures approximately 36” tall x 17.5” wide when folded, seat is 15” x 13.5” and the back is 15.5” x 18.5”. Original red and tan floral design carpet bag material for the seat and back. Dark stained wood with quality ornate top trim. Old deteriorated label on bottom side of seat has readable text “Patented April 19,” with the rest of the text missing. Seat and back is worn and frayed from heavy use, but no sign of insect damage noted. The craftsmanship is clear as this chair still folds and opens just like it did when first made. An excellent specimen with no names or other identifying marks. Shipping will be higher than normal.
