Scarce Tintype Image Of President Abraham Lincoln
c. 1865 Civil War Era, Tintype Photograph Image, Abraham Lincoln, Reproduced From A Life Image, Very Fine.
c. 1865 Civil War era Tintype Photograph is produced from an original Abraham Lincoln image. Set within oval on a White Carte de Visite holder, the central image measuring about 1.5” x 1.25” showing an older bearded Lincoln facing left. The image and contrast is good, there is some typical rust on the blank reverse and minor roughness just above Lincoln’s forehead. There is some faint lines within the surface emulsion near center. The decorative, ornately embossed oval surrounding the image has a heraldic Union shield at top.
