c. 1790 Liverpool Creamware “Sailing Ship” Transfer Mug
c. 1790 Liverpool Creamware Mug, with a British “Sailing Ship” Transfer, Choice Extremely Fine.
This impressive, nicely designed Mug measures 4.6" tall x 3.3" wide. It displays a large British “Sailing Ship” transfer, the ship being at full sail and flying the British Union Jack Flag. It is in excellent condition with just a fine hairline near the handle base into the upper blank areas and a tiny filled chip at the base rim, just in front of the transfer. Overall, this early Liverpool Mug is solid and has a deep black, well detailed transfer, even in showing various sailors and crew manning the Sailing Ships decks. An excellent, clean and attractive example for display.
