“General Jackson The Hero of New Orleans” War of 1812 Era Colorful Decorative Copper Lusterware Pitcher
Historic Copper Lusterware Pitcher “General Jackson The Hero of New Orleans,” in its Rarest Small Size, Lustrous Metallic Copper, Yellow and Black, Choice Near Mint.
This extremely rare, highly vivid and colorful Lusterware Pitcher measures 4” tall x 2.5” at its base. This is the smallest size “Andrew Jackson” Transfer Copper Lusterware Pitcher. The legend above and below Jackson’s central portrait reads, "General Jackson - The Hero of New Orleans" and is depicted on both sides of this beautiful Pitcher. Listed as item “J.4” on page 112 in the major reference book, “Anglo-American Ceramics” by Arman, where he values this type of historic Pitcher at $5,000 over a decade ago, way back in 1990. All of the sharply detailed transfers are in excellent condition, showing no wear from use. Likely, this specimen has been placed solely upon display to be viewed admired, ever since originally sold.
