This fine statuette of a female ball player can be attributed to the German sculptor Hans Keck due to its subject and its accomplishment. Chryselephantine dancers make up a large part of the artist's oeuvre. The present female ball player exits in several copies. With the flowing robe made of bronze, the elegant updo and the graceful posture, the figure is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau style. The sweet expression of tje face, which is close to nature, exemplifies the artist’s great skill.
The figurine is in good condition, showing light wear and some losses of the patina. The lower left arm is fixed at the height of the bracelet and sits slightly loose. The total height, including the plinth, is 22 cm.

Hans Keck was a German sculptor who was active primarily in the early 20th century. His oeuvre includes numerous dancers and female nudes, but also historicizing and mythological figures as well as farmers, craftsmen, musicians and athletes can be found in his work.
