Porcelain Manufactory 'Rosenthal, Kunstabteilung Selb'
Design "Festreigen" by Karl Himmelstoss (1878-1967) – German modeler and sculptor
Signed on plinth “K. Himmelstoss”
Model number: K210.
Height: 43 cm
This pair of charming porcelain lamp stands show three girls in flowing dresses dancing a round dance. They were produced by the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal 'Kunstabteilung Selb' after a design by the German modeler Karl Himmelstoss. The latter worked for Rosenthal between 1912 and 1938. The lamps “Festreigen” ('feast round dance') are amongst his most well-known and popular designs.
Both lamp stands are signed on the plinth with “K. Himmelstoss”. One lamp shows the makers mark 'Rosenthal, Kunstabteilung Selb' and the model number 'K210' underneath, on the underside of the second lamp theses marks are covered by felt. Both lamps show signs of age and wear. One stand shows restaurations on three ankles, the other lamp has only one restored ankle. The lamps are fully functional, but there is no guarantee on functionality. The lamp stands measure 43 cm in height.
