Description
c.1936 or earlier. Mitsugiri woodblock print, ink and color on paper. Hiroaki Takahashi was later named Shotei and was a great artist in the Shin Hanga (new prints) movement. Full title of this print is Snowy Night with a Hazy Moon (Yuki no Oboro Yo.) An old woman is seen just having crossed a snow-covered bridge beneath the moonlight, walking towards a village. Published by Watanabe Shozaburo. Artist's signature and seal (Hiroaki) to left. Mounted in a frame. Approx. 14 7/8 by 6 3/4 in., 37.8 by 17.3 cm.
