Description
MEM A very rare 21 x 29.5cm flyer in Spanish, issued by the "Comite de Paris del Movimiento Comunista" and entitled "Viva La Lucha De Los Trabajadores y De Los Pueblos de Espana", printed on both sides in black ink. N.p. [Paris?], Movimiento Comunista, 1976. The recto features a black and white press photograph showing the funeral of Jose Maria Martinez Ocio, Francisco Aznar and Romualdo Barroso Chaparro, three workers killed in a clash with the police during a strike in the city of Vitoria on March 3, 1976. On the verso the "Movimiento Comunista" accuses Juan Carlos and the then Interior Minister Manuel Fraga of the killings and lists its purposes, including "Disolucion de las fuerzas e instituciones represivas" and "Depuracion del ejercito". Light creasing to corners, some yellowing to margins. The massacre of the three workers represented the moment of highest tension during the transitional period after the death of Francisco Franco. A potent artefact of a largely unexplored period of Spanish history.
