E-143 U.S. WWI 50th Aero Squadron camouflage helmet. Geometric black outlined green/yellow/rust/cream/brown panels with painted insignia of the Third Army (white "A" within a red circle on a blue background), 7th Corps (white "7" on a blue shield) and the 50th Aero Squadron (Dutch girl carrying stick). Complete with liner and chinstrap in very good condition. (The 50th Aero was an observation unit which took part in the Argonne and St. Mihiel offenses. It was instrumental in supplying the "Lost Battalion" by low altitude flying and the dropping of supplies.) An excellent example with an age toned patina - has never been cleaned. Rare. II+
