This is a votive offering in the form of a left leg. The hollow, from the mold cast leg of a man is very well preserved, intact and complete. The sole of the sandal is standing out clearly; also the elongated reinforcement of the back until knee height. The leg, on top straight cut off, is modelled very naturalistic with protruding, triangular patella and pronounced calf muscle. The spaces and nails of the toes are carefully elaborated. On the surface are remains of an originally reddish-meat-colored slipware. On the flat sole is a deep notch. Votive offerings of this kind, represented as parts of the body in clay or rarer in bronze, were dedicated to the gods of healing in their sanctuaries, pleading for healing the concerned part of the body or organ.
A document by the Art Loss register is enclosed. The clay leg is in an age-according very good condition. It is 54 cm in height. The dimensions of the plinth are 30 x 30 cm. It weighs approximately 8.6 kg. (tm)
