XU Beihong (1895-1953)

XU Beihong was born in 1895 in Yixiang and was an important Chinese painter. In his works he combined the stylistic elements of Western and Chinese painting. In 1919 he studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Paris and visited other European cities. In 1928 he returned to China and became a professor at the Nanjing University. Later he was the head of the Beijing University and took the position of director at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.



Condition: The work is in good condition with slight signs of wear such as spots in the mounting, slight loss of material at the outside of the upper edge and minimal creases. The total dimensions are 253 x 110 cm and the image size is c. 103 x 106 cm.
