The following offering of original Adolf Hitler library books was acquired by an American Major in Berlin, in May 1945. Heading the 713th MP Battalion, he and his French counterpart, Capt. V. Ziegelmeyer, had access to the Reichs Chancellory and were able to acquire books with Adolf Hitler bookplates, stationary, and other material. Letterheads, from Capt. Ziegelmeyer's estate were offered in Mohawk Arms Auction Catalog No. 38 on February 21, 1998 and books with "Adolf Hitler" bookplates were sold in Auctions 61 through 71. Each of the following books will include a Xerox copy of a penciled notation which the Major wrote for his aide: "JAKE SENT TO MOLLY THAT ALL IS FINE IN BERLIN. WILL SEND BOOKS FROM HITLER'S BUILDING AND PAPERS...AMERICAN LT. SHOT BY OUR GUARDS TRYING TO STEAL CIGARETTES FROM THE OFF. CLUB...". Also included will be Xerox copies of two letters written on Adolf Hitler stationary concerning the acquisition of books and Russian looting in Berlin. A-014 Lot of 2 editions of the cigarette card album "Deutschland erwacht". Both have the sepia-toned "ADOLF HITLER", "EX LIBRIS" book plate with an early-type political eagle/swastika/oak leaves on the inside. cover. (1) The first edition has a two-page testimonial with portraits of 16 "martyrs" of the Nazi Party. It includes a Hitler penciled comment and is initialed. There also are 20 other Hitler penciled corrections/directives - many relate to changing black and white photos to color, all initialed. Included is the 51" fold-out photo view of the 1933 Nurnberg Party rally. Book is "foxed" and shows age. (2) second edition - includes the made corrections which were noted in the above. The photos of the "martyrs" are placed on one page next to an Honor Roll, and now per Hitler's suggestions, many of the photos are in color. Also with the large 1933 rally fold-out. A rare set.
