Pre-abolishment letters from The Secretary of War to the House of Representatives, 1862 (March 25, June 17, and July 2). In answer to "Resolution of the House, transmitting a report of Major General Wool, on the number, age, and condition of the Africans in his district." (14 pages), "A resolution of the House of the 9th instant, in relation to the organization of South Carolina volunteers, composed of black men - fugitive slaves." (2 pages), and "A resolution of the House of June 9, 1862, transmitting correspondence of Major General Hunter, in relation to arming South Carolina volunteers - fugitive slaves." (3 pages). Good condition.
