Description
Serial No. 11084. This revolver was manufactured from 1861 - 1874, it features a standard 6" octagon barrel, nickel plated finish, and ivory square butt grips. It is chambered for the .32 rimfire long cartridge, six shot non-fluted spur trigger. It retains approximately 80% of the original factory nickel finish, with the balance a pleasing dark grey patina. The aged ivory grips are in excellent condition and appear to have been on the revolver since its inception. Bore is excellent with strong rifling. There is some slight wobble at the hinge. The backstrap is engraved "Capt. Dwight 75th Regt. N.Y.V." (New York Volunteers). According to our research Charles C. Dwight was mustered in as Captain of the regiment on October 3rd, 1861 and stayed at that post through July 10th of 1862, during that time their company fought in many of the early battles. A fine Civil War documented presentation revolver worthy of any fine Civil War collection.
