This energetic multiple plate color etching/aquatint is a wonderful example of 1960's/70's European abstraction. The signature is highly stylized, and has been identified as Johnny Friedlaender (French/German , b. 1912 - 1992), a well collected artist. The masterful execution of the composition, along with the sophisticated original custom framing show that this was an expensive piece by a respected artist. The print is numbered 55/100 and signed in pencil in the lower margin. The natural wood frame features wooden spacers between the glass and the white rag mat, and a wooden strainer fitted to the back. There is a discoloration of the paper which seems to be coming in from all four corners. It may be original coloration, but at any rate it is not offensive. The print has not been examined out of the frame and is being sold as-found.
