This porcelain service was made by the Viennese porcelain manufactory Augarten. The pieces of this mocha service in the décor ‘Rich multi-coloured floral bouquets’ adorn colourful and cheerful flower bouquets, supplemented with a dark red rim. Five pieces are decorated in ‘Old Viennese Rose’ with green rim, and one piece in ‘Maria Theresia’ with gold rim. The painting is executed in luscious colours, characteristic for this Old Viennese flower décor from the first half of the 18th century. Especially pretty are the painted flowers on the inside of the mocha cups. The service is comprised of the following pieces:

1 cream jug
6 mocha cups, incl. 6 saucers, ø 12.3 cm

All pieces are underneath marked with the cobalt blue ‘Bindenschild’ under glaze and bear numberings. The small basket bowl bears the manufactory mark by Herend, Hungary. The service is in very good condition with minor traces of wear.
Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten
The Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten was founded in 1718 by Claudius Innocentius du Paquier. With the help of a special privilege, vested on him by the emperor Charles VI., du Paquier built up a monopoly position in porcelain making in Austria. The manufactory came into the property of the court under Maria Theresia’s reign. It reached a high level of prominence during the classicism with its elegant decorations and got further more known through the delicate flower decors of the Biedermeier time. A new climax was reached during the Art Déco, when the manufactory collaborated with the newest artists and designers. Designs from this time are still highly sought after. (tm)
