Porcelain manufactory Richard Ginori
The porcelain manufactory Richard Ginori was established in 1735 by the Italian politician and businessman Marchese Carlo Andrea Ginori (1702-1757) in Doccia near Florence and eventually merged with the industrialist Augustus Richard in the 19th century. During a diplomatic stay in Vienna, Ginori deepened his knowledge of the manufacture of the white gold, bringing ‘arcanists’ (chemists who knew how to produce porcelain, a well-kept secret at the time) and painters from the Viennese porcelain manufactory along to technically support the construction and setup of the manufactory. The company is considered, after the Meissen and Vienna manufactories, the third-oldest in Europe. (cru)
