Christian Witkin (b. 1966)
The artist was born in Manchester in 1966 and lived in Amsterdam until 1984. After completion of his art studies at the Syracuse University in New York, Witkin worked as an assistant for well-known photographers like Peter Lindbergh, Bruce Weber and Annie Leibowitz. He started with portraits and fashion photos for magazines like New York Times Magazine, Vogue (American, British, German, Spanish and Japanese editions), W, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, The London Sunday Times, Arena and ID. Witkin has received numerous awards, among others the Society of Publication Designers Gold Award for photography and prizes of American Photography, Communication Arts and Photo District News.
