This open work Lakshmi Narayana bronze figure was made in India and date back to the 17th/18th century. It comes on a rectangular, ornate pedestal. Shown is the four armed Hindu deity Vishnu with his consort Lakshmi. Vishnu is also known under the name Narayan and is one of the most important Hindu deities. He is believed to be the protector and preserver of the world and the moral order. In this case he is located inlalitasana position with different attributes in his hands. Lakshmi is seated on his left thigh and her right arm is wrapped around Vishnus neck. The figures are finely chased and a tapered top headgear is visible on their heads. At the back of the throne a pointy mandorla is visible, which is decorated with lotus leaves and verso with a surrounding inscription.
The bronze figure is in good condition with usual age related signs of wear such as small scratches and nicks here and there. The height measures 13 cm, the width 8 cm and a the depth 5 cm. (lvp)
