Description
Beauty and Visitor, 1853
Lovely portrait of a beauty with a visitor kneeling at her feet. She waves her folding fan with one hand as she looks down with a smile, tucking her other hand into her gray brocade obi. Her guest wears a fine coat with a beautiful pattern of floral bands alternating with a geometric print, trimmed with a black collar. A scene above shows a ship at sea with birds fluttering overhead. An interesting subject with embossing detail in the kimono trim, fine bokashi shading in the background, and handsome wood grain impression.
