Description
A Young Bride

Lovely design of a young bride in a traditional wedding costume seated in front of a woman during her wedding ceremony. She carefully cradles a sake cup with both hands as the woman pours from an elegant sake server. Other married women sit behind her, dressed in sumptuous kimono. The young samurai bridegroom, one of just three men in attendance, watches the ceremony at right. A low table behind the group is set with symbols of longevity and good luck for the couple's future, including a bonsai pine tree, a turtle, a crane, and the elderly couple Jo and Uba, who represent love and fidelity. A beautiful Chikanobu triptych with lovely embossed detail in the bride's white robes and burnishing in the black kimono and lacquer screen frame.

14 1/4" x 28 3/8" + margins
