Description
Warrior Watching an Emperor's Procession, 1895
Handsome triptych depicting a warrior and his retainers watching an emperor's procession. He leans forward with a keen expression, his hand placed on the ground beside him. He wears a fine suit of armor and a black court cap, a quiver of arrows at his back and a bow at his side. The procession approaches in the distance, the emperor riding in an elegant palanquin topped with a phoenix figurine. An attractive image bordered with a blue geometric print. Wonderful detail and color, with burnishing the cap and armor. A rare Chikanobu samurai subject.
14 3/8" x 28 1/2" + margins as shown
