This Etruscan bronze worshiper dates back to the 6th or 5th century BC. The female figure wears a foot long dress and a diadem in the tied hair. The figure seems to refer to the Greek goddess Hera, who is represented usually with a diadem and a scepter (lost in the present figure), often holding patera as well. In the Greek mythology, she was believed to protect the marriage and the childbirth.
The figurine is in good condition considering its age, showing a beautiful natural patina and minor losses affecting the left arm. The height is 11 cm. The figure comes with a modern acrylic base. (cko)
