This statue originates from Egypt and dates back to the Late Period, the time of the 26th to the 30th Dynasty (664–342 BCE). The statue depicts the jackal-headed Horus son Duamutef in mummy form. It is wearing a long, three-parted and formerly black painted wig with a protruding jackal head. There seems to have been a collar painted in black on the breast. Pale traces of black painted hieroglyphics are visible in the upper area of the back pillar. The entire piece is of exquisite craftsmanship, all areas have been smoothed out in meticulous manner. The entire body used to be coated in white. Furthermore, remains of red colour on the body and black paint in face and wig areas are surviving. This type of statuettes served as funerary additions during the Late Period. There are four of the Horus sons, each responsible for one cardinal direction and arranged in the corners of the coffins accordingly.
The statue of the Horus son Duamutef is in age-according astonishingly well-preserved condition with minimal traces like small wood cracks. In the right area of the breast is a minimal damage, due to the manufacturing process, which has been filled with stucco and then painted over already shortly after its making. The object is complete; merely the foot part is partially broken. The figure is installed on a modern subjoined wooden plinth. The dimensions of the wooden figure are 31.4 x 6.5 x 5 cm (height x width x depth).
