Description
Asian (likely Chinese), 19th century. Pair of matching pottery jars with applied gilt pierced archaic dragon or mythical beast handles at top of hand painted vessel with lappet border at top and bottom containing raised figural scene with seated figure, child and woman holding large fan, opposite cartouche with figure leaning out of open window talking to child and adult figure under tree. Overall in olive green ground with gilt cloud scroll accents, and C scroll accents. Circular wooden lids with figural finial (seated man drinking tea) with remnants of gilt finish. Lidded jars raised on circular wooden base in similar color palette and with lappet banding. All unmarked. Approximate overall height 17.5", diameter of bottom of stand 4.9", diameter of opening at top of jar 3.5"._x000D_
