Marquis de LaFayette (1757-1834) French aristocrat. La Fayette is considered a national hero in both France and the United States for his participation in the French and American revolutions for which he became an Honorary Citizen of the United States. 8" x 7" letter signed, in French, January 1, 1832, to Peter Du Toneau. There is a small stain over the signature caused by the wax seal.
