William Heath (1737-1814) General. Heath served as a Major General in the Continental Army during the Revolution. He commanded Massachusetts forces during the last stage of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. In 1776, Heath participated in the defense of New York City. He saw action at the Battle of Long Island, the Battle of Harlem Heights, and the Battle of White Plains. 7" x 8" autograph document signed, Boston, April 4, 1777. "///Pay to Lieut. Colonel Littlefield of Col. Francis's Regiment, Two thousand Dollars to raise recruits for this regiment...W. Heath, MG." Below Heath's order Littlefield has written: "Received the Above by me. Noah M. Littlefield, Col." Somewhat faded, but legible. Paper loss at the left margin has been archivally repaired.
