This elegant-aristocratic wall mirror has been made during the Biedermeier period in Northern Germany around 1830-1840. In front of a mahogany veneered back wall stand two ebonized columns on a slightly protruding socket. The columns have newly gilded bases and capitals and their smooth surface shines. The mirrored area is split into a smaller part on the top and a larger mirror below. Above a small moulding crowns a fancifully curved pediment, adorned with newly gilded patera, the mirror.
The mirror is optically in a very good condition. It has been restored expertly and has been French polished by hand. Its dimensions are: 125 cm high; 42 cm broad.
