This pompous oval mirror was crafted with acanthus leafage and shell cartridge in ca. 1880 in France. The scalloped wooden frame groin is decorated with gilded stucco elements cut decors. An old mirror glass with edge cut is inserted. Surrounding bead cords and blossom strapwork are a further feature of this mirror. A high-relief shell sits in the scrollwork cartridge on acanthus leaves and blossom garland supports serve as the finial.
The mirror is in good condition. The gilding is partly abraded and replaced with gold bronze. The dimensions are 110 x 75 cm (height x width). (tm)
