Heavy and timeless classic silver service by the important silversmiths Elkington & Co.

The four-piece set by Elkington & Co of Birmingham dates from the years 1968-1969. It consists of a silver tea and coffee pot, a lidded sugar bowl and a creamer. All pieces feature bulbous bodies in an oval shape with curved wooden handles. The pots show remains of gilding on the inside. Elkington & Co. was a major English silversmith, which was established in the 1840s and produced, for instance, the luxurious cutlery for the Titanic and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Due to the very good quality of the products, the company received the highest awards at international exhibitions.

All pieces are hallmarked with the maker's mark of Elkington & Co., Sterling Standard, the Birmingham city mark and the date letters T and U (1968 and 1969) to the edges. The undersides are stamped with ‘ENGLAND’ and ‘J6’ or ‘L5’, ‘L3’ and ‘J’. The pieces are in very good condition, showing only minor wear. The dimensions of the teapot are approx. 20 x 25 x 10 cm. The coffee pot measures circa 24 x 20 x 7.5 cm, and the sugar bowl is about 13 x 14 x 6 cm in size. The dimensions of the creamer are 13 x 10 x 5.5 cm. The overall weight of all pieces is about 2.290 grams.
