This porcelain service originates from the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin. It is designed in the form ‘Neuosier’ and the décor ‘flower painting’. The gold rim of the service highlights the extremely elaborate elegant form and the delightful character of the service. The service consist of one coffee pot with lid, eleven mocha cups incl. twelve saucers, eight cake plates, one sugar jar with lid, and one milk can. Eight coffee cups incl. eight saucers, and twelve cake plates are of a slightly different form. The beautifully finely differentiated wave relief of the flag is amended by the naturalistic hand painting of the flowers and little butterflies. The gold rim is an excellent addition. Handles and knobs are gold staffaged. Simply a beautiful porcelain service for a coffee party or serving desert.
The condition of the service is very good. Every piece bears the underglaze red sceptre mark and the onglaze red orb by KPM as well as numbers underneath. The height of the coffee can is 25 cm.
KPM – Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin
The manufactory that was founded in 1763 by Frederick the Great was based on three private companies that had tried for some time to produce porcelain in Berlin. The manufactory has been located near the Tiergarten in Berlin since 1871. It took up the production of painted porcelain tiles under the direction of Professor Alexander Kips and made a huge profit. After the destruction of the manufactory during the Second World War the Land of Berlin took over the company in 1988. Since 2006 the company is owned by the private banker Jörg Woltmann.
