This beautifully shaped silver pot was manufactured around 1725-1729 in Augsburg and is used for serving coffee or chocolate. The pot stands out with its elegant body and the carved wooden handle. The pear-shaped body is gadrooned and fitted with an arched and wrought hinged lid and an octagonal knob. The spout is equipped with a hinged lid as well. The curved wooden handle has an ornamental acanthus thumb rest with a voluted end.
The pot bears the Augsburg pine cone (1725-1729), the maker's mark ‘IKE’ and the zig zag scrape mark ‘Tremolierstrich’ to the underside. It is in good condition, showing a dent at the wall and two restored breaking points to the handle. The overall height, including the lid, is 23 cm. Weight: circa 532 grams. (cko)
