[FILM] Jim Backus (1913-1989) American radio, television, film, and voice actor. Among his most famous roles are the voice of nearsighted cartoon character Mr. Magoo, the rich Hubert Updike III on the radio version of The Alan Young Show, Joan Davis's character's husband (a domestic court judge) on TV's I Married Joan, James Dean's character's father in Rebel Without a Cause and Thurston Howell, III on the 1960s sitcom Gilligan's Island. He also starred in his own show of one season, The Jim Backus Sho50, also known as Hot off the Wire. 1965 contract with Jim Backus for the film "Billie". Dated April 23, 1965, 1p., signed in ink by Milton Ebbins for Chrislaw Productions. Milt Ebbins was a well-liked Hollywood insider who directed the careers of actors, musicians and comedians. For more than 30 years, he was the personal manager of actor Peter Lawford. Ebbins was a well-connected show business manager who was a liaison between Hollywood and the Kennedy White House.
