Description
American, first quarter 20th century. A pair of heliogravures engraved by Lemercier after restoration drawings by G. Ancelet and H. Daumet, each being a plate from "D'Espouy: One Hundred Selected Plates From Fragments D'Architecture Antique" published in New York in 1923. Each etching depicts the Corinthian style capital of a column, one inscribed below image "Temple De Jupiter Stator A Rome" (inscribed bottom center "Releves et Restauration de G. Ancelet"), and the other "Portique Du Pantheon A Rome" (inscribed bottom center "Releves et Restauration de H. Daumet), and each inscribed lower left "Heliogravure Lemercier" and lower right 'Schmid Edit". Framed 21.25" x 23", unframed sight size 12" x 14.5".
