Persian (Iran), 20th century (circa 1920s), Kashan "Mohtasham " (Motashem) pictorial figural hand knotted Manchester wool and silk carpet. Fine and rare with approximately 225 knots per square inch (considered top grade for Kashan rugs). measures approximately (5'6" x 8'4") All design elements rendered in woven silk--making up at least 20% of overall. Image possibly depicting Darius the Great, the third king of the Persian Achaemenid Empire. Exquisite rug with numerous figures in various poses including riding on horseback with weapons, on elephants, seated, surrounded with flowers, and inscription panels on cream colored field._x000D_
