English, early 20th century. A six piece matched William Comyns & Sons (London, 1859- ) sterling silver mounted vanity or dresser set. Set is presents shield form repousse items decorated by wingless putti amidst a forest scene surrounded by flowering swags. Set comprises of a beveled hand mirror (11.25" long, 354385), a hairbrush (10" long, 363253), two shoe or clothing brushes (7" long, 363245), and one hair comb (7.75" long, 363255). Set is nested in a leather bound hinged box lined in green silk and velvet with custom shaped nesting spots, with brass hinges and closure. Each piece is marked either on the edge or within the matrix with some date marks indicating 1900 and some dating 1903. Serial or style numbers mark each item and are noted above. Case measures approximately 17" x 8.5" x 3.75". One hairbrush from set is missing.
