An extremely rare Edison Shaving Machine; a classic collector's item for enthusiasts of traditional technology

This object is a rare neutralization device for shaving wax cylinders, referred to as ‘Edison Shaving Machine’, produced by the U.S. American inventor Thomas A. Edison. The device is mounted in a hinged wooden box with wooden lid which has an additional side door to remove the chips. Also included are 7 various original cylindrical containers with lids in a supporting frame, including 4 wax rolls.



The machine is in good condition with typical age-related signs of use. The maker's plate is a little loose. The containers made of cardboard are a little dusty, stained, and slightly bumped. Two lower lids are lost. Otherwise, overall of good preservation. The dimensions of the device, including the cover are 44.5 x 42 x 30 cm. The roller support frame measures 27.5 x 20.5 x 25 cm.



Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931)

Thomas Alva Edison was born in 1847 in Ohio in the United States and died in 1931 in New Jersey. He is internationally known as an inventor in the field of electricity and electronics. Edison’s achievements were the introduction of electric light and the electrification of New York by the invention of the carbon filament light bulb in 1879. Among his many other inventions is also the phonograph from 1877, the Edison screw of 1881, the electric chair from 1888 as well as the kinetograph and kinetoscope from the year 1891.
