Vase with large 'Stellato' Murrinas in red, orange, green and aventurine with bubble inclosures
The Italian glass artist created this vase in the mid-1990s, presumably in the Vetreria Fratelli Pagnin, Murano. The vase's body of colorless glass is adorned by densely joined star-like 'Stellato' Murrinas. The Murrina technique, for which the singly glass discs are cut from a glass stack, has been in existence on the glass making island Murano for a long time.
The vase is 21 cm high and has a diameter of 19 cm. It is in very good condition.
Vittorio Ferro (born in 1932)
Vittorio Ferro was born son of the Maestro Giuseppe Ferro in 1932. As of 1946 he served an apprenticeship with his uncles Armando and Amleto Zuffi in the glass works of the Fratelli Toso, where he was active as master between 1952 and 1981. In 1969 he was awarded the Murano prize 'Le Borselle d'Oro'. From 1981 to 1998 he was active as master at the Vetreria de Majo in Murano.
