The portfolio was published in 1992 by Edition Volker Huber in Offenbach am Main and comprises four graphic works that were created on occasion of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. The sheets of this portfolio are probably printed later. According accompanying certificate of Art Galerie Richter in Berlin it is the copy 349 from an edition of 1,800.

The following works are comprised:

Otmar Alt, ‘Wettlauf zwischen Haase und Igel’, a serigraph in colors, worked over with black felt pen, which is signed and dated lower right in the print ‘Otmar Alt 70’. Additionally it is signed and dated in black felt pen center right ‘O. Alt 93’.

Horst Antes, ‘Schwarz-weiß-gefleckte Figur (Oympia)’, a lithograph in colors from 1970, which is signed lower right on the stone ‘Antes’. Catalog raisonné: compare Lutze 638 b.

Fritz Winter, „Komposition“, a lithograph in colors from 1969, which is signed lower right in the print ‘fWinter’. Catalog raisonné: Schneider 97.

Paul Wunderlich, ‘Olympia-Plakat’, a lithograph in colors with embossing from 1971, which is signed lower right on the stone. Additionally it is signed lower left in white crayon ‘Wunderlich’. Catalog raisonné: Riediger 391.

The serigraph by Antes bears a tiny tear (0.5 cm) in the lower sheet edge and the lower left corner of the lithograph by Winter is slightly creased. Overall are all sheets in very good condition. The portfolio is in good condition with slight signs of wear. The four full-sheet images measure each around 87 x 64 cm, the portfolio 88.4 x 66.4 cm



Otmar Alt (born 1940)

Otmar Alt was born in 1940 in Wernigerode in the Harz district. At the beginning of the 1950s he moved to Berlin with his mother. After finishing school he started his training as a poster painter and a designer of shop windows. In 1959, the artist took up studying at the Berliner Meisterschule für Kunsthandwerk (Berlin School for a Master’s degree in craftwork). After receiving his master’s degree under Professor Hermann Bachmann, Otmar Alt worked as an assistant of scenic design in Trier and Frankfurt am Main. He started organizing first exhibitions of his works on the side. Today, the artist and artisan has a versatile oeuvre, creates paintings, prints and sculptures, designs children’s books, Olympia posters, wall and façade design, facilities for fountains and scenery design. Alt received numerous awards for his works of art. They are regularly exhibited in solo exhibitions and some of his works can today be seen in international museums.



Horst Antes (born 1936)

The German artist Horst Antes studied under HAP Grieshaber at the Art Academy in Karlsruhe, where he has been a painting professor since 1967. As one of the first pioneers of figurative painting, Horst Antes searched for new possibilities to create art. He invented his “Kopffüßler”, known worldwide and inspired by Pueblo kachina dolls, after 1962. His works are exhibited internationally, for example at the documenta in Kassel and at the Venice biennial.



Fritz Winter (1905-1976)

Fritz Winter is one of the most important abstract artists of the postwar period and studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau. Based on the testimonies of Klee and Kandinsky, he received a scholarship from the city of Dessau. He was participate 1929 at the exhibition ‘Junge Bauhausmaler' and at this time he came into contact with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Winter finished his studies at the Bauhaus and opened with fellow artists the ‘Studio Z’ in 1931. His work ’Triebkräfte der Erde’ is still regarded as key work of postwar art and with the silkscreens from 1949 he was one of the pioneers of artistic screen printing.



Paul Wunderlich (1927-2010)

Paul Wunderlich, a German painter, sculptor and graphic artist predominantly depicted erotic figures. In 1947 he began his printmaking-studies at the Hamburg School of Art under Willi Tietze and Willem Grimm. After his studies he worked there as a lecturer and later as a professor, too. During this time he also printed for other artists, for example for Emil Nolde and Oskar Kokoschka. Wunderlich was awarded numerous prizes during his lifetime. (fea)
