This composition in mixed media and carborundum on paper with the title ‘Mara a Mata’ was created by the French printmaker and painter, James Coignard (1925-2008) in around 1990. Coignard’s art was influenced in the 1950s by the contact to Henri Matisse, George Braque and Marc Chagall. He is regarded a master of the Carborundum technique, which he started employing in his works in the 1950s. His creative production is represented for example at the Salomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, California.



The frame displays wear, besides that the work is in very good condition. The sheet is 56 x 45 cm in size, and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 78 x 61 cm. (tm)
