Hans-Rudolf Giger (1940-2014) was in contact with exponents of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, including Ernst Fuchs, which is reflected in a significant influence of the artistic movement on his works. His bronze sculpture ‘Bambi Alien’ presents not only Giger's usual ingenuity, in which dreamlike elements are combined with surrealist overtones. The bronze is also an ironic statement to the annual Bambi Awards in Germany's television.
The bronze is monogrammed with ‘HRG’, numbered ‘18/500’ and marked with the foundry stamp of ARA to the reverse of one leg. It is in very good condition, showing only minor traces of use. The height of the bronze is 16 cm.
Hans-Rudolf Giger (1940-2014)
Hans-Rudolf Giger studied interior architecture and industrial design at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich. From 1966, he established himself as an interior architect and designer. At the same time, he was active as an artist. In addition to his important work as a painter, Giger created prints, sculptures and furniture. Early 1990s, Giger gave up on painting and devoted himself to three-dimensional works.
