Rare Sharps & Hankins model 1861 Navy Rifle. 32.5 in. long round barrel, nice clean rifled bore, .52 caliber rimfire with fixed firing pin, breech loading lever action with sliding breech, 3 band walnut stock with unusual bayonet fitting at the muzzle and brass butt plate. Serial number on the tang “460”, signed on the right side of the frame “Sharps & Hankins, Philada.” and on the left side “Sharps Patent 1859”. Stock has an oiled finish, bore is very clean, barrel and metal parts have some pitting and dings from use, nice brown patina is very dark & consistent at the muzzle end with signs of cleaning over the years at the breach; lever operates smooth and locks tight, trigger is working smoothly. A very nice rare example, 47.5 in. long.
