Colt New York Navy Model 1851 Revolver. 7.5 in. octagonal barrel with rifled bore, .36 caliber, 6 shot single action percussion revolver with creep style ramrod, brass trigger guard and butt strap, walnut grips; marked on the top of the barrel in one line "Address Saml Colt New York City", “Colt’s Patent – U.S.” on the left frame, matching serial numbers “72069” on barrel, frame, trigger guard & butt strap, cylinder faintly reads “Colt’s Patent 72069” with engraved naval battle scene, number “42514” under ram rod. “M.M.” cartouche on left grip, replaced wedge & wedge screw broken off, hammer cocks & half cocks, cylinder rotates properly and though it does not hold back in the full cocked position trigger still redraws hammer and fires, one cylinder chamber is blown out. c.1857, overall length 13 in.
