Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Civil War Era Carbine. Barrel measures 20 in. long, beautiful & clean rifled bore, 56-52 rimfire, 7 round tube magazine in the stock which is loaded through the butt of the stock, repeating lever clears out the used shell and feeds the new one from the magazine to the chamber, has a walnut stock with no visible cartouches, single band and saddle ring on left side. Signed on the top of the frame in 3 lines “Spencer Repeating - Rifle Co., Boston, Mass. – Pat’d March 6, 1860” and serial number “58881”. Cocks, half cocks, trigger and lever mechanism are functioning smoothly, frame has a nice finish, front stock band sits loosely but is secure. 37 in. long.
