Triplett & Scott 1865 "Kentucky" Repeating Carbine. Round 22 in. barrel, rifled bore, .50 caliber rimfire, walnut stock, 7 round magazine tube contained in the butt stock; a thumb operated button to the left of the hammer releases the barrel which rotates clockwise, automatic shell ejector drops the cartridge on the right side, the barrel swings down and receives a new cartridge form the magazine and then rotated back counter clockwise, locking into firing position, a spring loaded swinging door swings left and then back down which covers the magazine tube. The front left side of the receiver frame is marked “Kentucky”, the rear left frame is marked “Meriden Man’fg. Co. – Meriden, Conn.” on the tang “Triplett & Scott – Patent Dec. 6, 1864” and serial number on the right frame “4137”. Metal has a deep brown finish with pitting & impact marks, missing one screw on the top leaf of the butt plate, left grip of the butt stock is repaired at the fore end (common to this model due to the magazine tube and rotating motion). 38 in. long.
